Super Shame: “Up With People”

If any act deserves to be on the list of worst Super Bowl halftime performers, it’s the squeaky clean “kids” of the human Muzak group Up With People. Started as counter programming to the “hippie” counterculture movement of the 1960’s, Up With People performed inoffensive Muzak versions of the latest hits. Theoretically, they were supposed to be a group whose music would entertain people of all ages, but other than squares and grandmothers, Up With People just annoyed everyone. Obviously a perfect choice for eleven Super Bowl halftime shows.

Danny Thomas’ “Bloodsport”

If you happen to find yourself in or near Woodland, CA and have several minutes to spare, take someone over the age of 60 aside and mention Danny Thomas. Rather than glass coffee tables, they will most likely mention the time that Mr. Thomas swept into town to produce the now forgotten ABC Movie of the Week  Blood Sport. Not Associated With Jean Claude Van Dam Filmed at various locations around Yolo County, but mostly at Woodland High School's football stadium, it appears that everyone in town at the time tried to get involved in some way.
